Our Mission and Ethos

Mission Statement

At St Cuthbert with St Matthias CofE Primary School our Christian values of kindness, caring, forgiveness, compassion and co-operation support the spiritual and moral development of our children and wider community.

Together and individually we strive:

  • To grow and learn in a happy and safe environment;
  • To work for the highest possible academic standards;
  • To create and foster a genuine love of learning.

Behaviour and Expectations

We have a strong Behaviour Code and high expectations of behaviour.  We actively encourage our children to treat each other with mutual respect and kindness.  To help the children to do this we have a 4C Code to guide their behaviour.  Children understand that actions have consequences.

Our 4C Code:

Consideration

Co-operation

Commonsense

British Values

In keeping with the legal requirements put in place by the Department of Education in 2012, we support and teach British values including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.  We are also required to prepare children for life in modern Britain. This framework is now monitored by Ofsted and is required to be present in all aspects of school life.
